Classic lathe maker launches industry-proven large capacity milling machines

Classic lathe maker Dean Smith & Grace announces the launch of MCON UK Ltd, a new manufacturing division specialising in the design and build of high quality, large capacity, precision milling machines.

Models range from single, travelling column designs with horizontal/universal heads to fixed or travelling twin column machines with fixed or elevating rail options . though bespoke machines to customers. precise requirements can also be designed and manufactured.

The name may be new, but the machines are well proven, with design and development going virtually unnoticed in test sites throughout the UK and overseas for a number of years.

MCON has a number of long term installations that have been working successfully in all types of environments, carrying out machining operations ranging from precision line boring on heavy duty excavator arms to the machining of complex five-axis composites. One operator speaks of a travelling gantry machine which has performed flawlessly in round-the-clock use for the past six years, with only basic routine maintenance being carried out.

The MCON range will be hand-built in Britain, in a new manufacturing facility located in Skipton, North Yorkshire - in relatively close proximity to the Dean Smith & Grace headquarters in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
